The aim of the project was to completely merge and bundle the home care and medical businesses of B. Braun Prolabor GmbH, Transcare Service GmbH and B. Braun Travacare GmbH into B. Braun Gesundheitsservice GmbH. In addition to the legal merger, uniform processes and a central ERP system should be introduced in three steps. In addition to standardizing processes, it was also important to meet the planned real start date due to the legal merger.
All three subsidiaries had their own ERP systems, some standard software, some in-house developments. The choice of ERP system was the KUMAVISION industry software for the healthcare market based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Other reasons for choosing the software and M Assist included the numerous automations in the industry solution and the know-how of the consultants, which should make their business more efficient and promising for the future.
As part of the introduction, all processes from finance, health insurance management, prescription and medical business to billing and supply chain management were analyzed and standardized. In addition, legal requirements such as a compliant illustration of the Chemicals Prohibition Ordinance and drug administration were presented. In the same way, experts from M Assist and B. Braun jointly developed a new solution to handle consultation and practice care requirements and then implemented it within the industry software.
Conversion and merger are carried out in three steps. In 2020, the dissolution and successful integration of B. Braun TravaCare GmbH was completed, in 2021, as planned, the implementation of B. Braun Prolabor GmbH and the introduction of Transcare Service GmbH is in progress for 2022.
In a one-week, agile power week at the start of the project, experts from B. Braun and M Assist clarified facilities and processes. The requirements were always implemented directly in the system, so that many facilities and processes were already in place after this first week. In the second step, training courses and workshops were held to define the new processes, operate the system and map health insurance contracts in the ERP system.
During the project, the corona pandemic struck. As a result, it was necessary to reschedule together and the further project was implemented online until the real start in 2021. For this purpose, consultation hours were introduced in all specialist areas, short efficient online training courses were carried out and both integration tests were successfully completed via Microsoft Teams Online and in this process the transfer of data was also checked. As a result, nothing stood in the way of another real start in May 2021.
As a result of the merger of the various organizations, B. Braun Gesundheitsservice also has several warehouses, which have been brought together in a centralized manner. For example, the logistics experts from M Assist helped B. Braun Gesundheitsservice organize the move and set up new logistics processes together. The processes were successfully converted to two-stage controlled storage and order picking, including automated replenishment management and dynamic storage location suggestion at incoming and outgoing stages.
In addition, together with B. Braun Gesundheitsservice and B. Braun Melsungen AG and B. Braun Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, a patient management platform using Salesforce Healthcloud and other doctor and web shop platforms is being developed and connected via Mulesoft using MAS Connector.
The company also feels well prepared for the future challenges of the industry and is already working today on new topics such as e-recipes or the further connection of various platforms and optimization of its existing business.
